Alice Tolan-Mee is a queer composer and performer from Brooklyn. She writes for the human voice, found sounds, electronics, and strings. A dance conservatory dropout turned composer/performer, Alice TM bridges these disciplines through her raucous, emotionally unhinged live performances, inhabiting a world between performance art and party. Her work is "open and inquisitive" (esoj), "beguiling" (New York Times), "introspective and dynamic" (Impose), “as painfully honest as it is stylistically exquisite” (Bandcamp). She has made music for choir (incl. a commission from Brooklyn Youth Chorus); dance (incl. projects performed at La Mama ETC, Dixon Place, Joe's Pub), and immersive headphone works (incl. a commision from Misfits Theatre). She has been awarded residencies at ACA (with mentorship from Missy Mazzoli), Access Theatre, and The Center at West Park, and attended New Amsterdam Records' Composer Lab (2022). Alice has released work with Whatever's Clever Records, and leads touring artpop project Alice TM. In tandem with her training in music, Alice was trained in dance at Calarts and Bennington College, receiving a B.A. in Music and Movement (2012).
